PGDM Department organised a guest session on “Mergers and Acquisitions” on 22nd January 2020 for PGDM Batch (2019-21) Sec B students by Dr Samta Jain, PhD, IIT, Delhi. The session consists of mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, buyouts and amalgamations taking place in the market. She introduced certain new concepts to the students about the internal expansions, types of mergers and various factors that affects the market. She briefed about the following aspects related to mergers:
- Strategic decisions and policies made by firms for effective mergers and acquisitions
- Types of mergers in related as well as unrelated segments and industry
- The effect of economies of scale
- Importance of firm plays an important role in absorbing shocks and risks
- Long term and short term financial impact.
- Tolerance and Swap ratios
Overall the guest session was highly interactive and knowledgeable for the students and they are eager to learn more.
