JIMS Rohini organized a guest lecture on “Indian E-commerce:Current Scenario & Future Trends” on 15th November, 2019 for the students of PGDM-Retail Management Batch (2019-21). The Resource Person of the session was Ms. Charneeta Kaur, Head (Content, Design & Communication)- De & Di: Design and Digital & Ex-Associate Director, Customer Engagement & Brand Merchandising – Snapdeal. The objective of the lecture was to enhance knowledge on e-commerce and lay the foundation for the students for their corporate journey ahead. The discussion was done on Indian e-commerce market which is expected to grow to US$ 200 billion by 2026 from US$ 38.5 billion as of 2017. Much growth of the industry has been triggered by increasing internet and Smartphone penetration. She further discussed the ongoing digital transformation in the country is expected to increase India’s total internet user base to 829 million by 2021 from 604.21 million as of December 2018. Lastly the lecture was concluded by telling the key mantra for success in retail industry that is customer experience management, measuring customer experience and improving customer experience. Overall it was a great experience for the students.
