The ever-evolving environment of business is the very reason for advances in management practices. Examples abound in all functional areas. Marketers are using unconventional means to generate awareness among the potential buyers while finance managers are exploring unheard of ways to fund new projects and HR managers are making significant moves to bring gender parities in roles and pay packages. With an aim to create and offer a platform for understanding and sharing management specific practices and solutions to contemporary issues, Department of Management - PGDM, JIMS Rohini organized International Conference on Advances in Management Practices - ICAMP 2019 on April 27, 2019.
The Conference began with the Convener’s inaugural address wherein Dr. Deepti Kakar, Professor, JIMS invoked the gathered researchers towards practically relevant themes and integrity of research. This was followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr. J K Goyal, Advisor, JIMS who steered the forum on contemporary business practices shared by experienced corporates - Mr. M A Mateen, Senior Vice President (F&A), British Paints; Ms Shipra Srivastava, Head (HR), Reliance Industries Ltd. and Mr. Vivek Nanda, National Manager (Direct Sales), Sharp Business Systems.
The inaugural session ended with the ceremonial launch of a book on Conference Proceedings published by Emerald Publishing, India.
This was followed by four research sharing sessions on - advances in marketing management practices, advances in international business management practices, advances in financial management practices, and advances in HR management practices. Keynote address by the session chairperson was followed by a few but very detailed paper presentations in each session that saw richly diverse participation from the entire country. Chaired by Dr. Neeru Kapoor, Associate Professor, DCAC, University of Delhi, the session on marketing practices saw some strong research work in progress. The session on International Business was overseen by Dr. Sangeeta Malik, Dean and Professor, MAIMS, GGSIP University. Dr. Archana Singh, Assistant Professor, Delhi Technological University chaired and discussed the finer details of popular financial models in the session on finance. Dr. S C Panda, Associate Professor, Satyawati College, University of Delhi chaired the fourth session on HR practices which witnessed a very enlightening discussion on the best paper (of ICAMP 2019) among others.
In keeping with the JIMS vision and practice about quality, each paper presentation in ICAMP 2019 was thoroughly discussed and enthusiastic listeners put forward earnest insights into the discussions. The valedictory session not only saw the honoring and thanksgiving to the research session experts but also the award of ‘outstanding research work’ for each of the sessions by Dr. Pooja Jain, Director, JIMS and Dr. Pratima Daipuria, Dean and Professor, JIMS.
The gathered researchers, academicians, educators and management practitioners availed the perfect opportunity to interact and mutually benefit from each others’ expertise at ICAMP 2019.
