On 16th January, 2019, JIMS organised an investor awareness programme for the PGDM batch (2018-20). The session was conducted by Mr. Avinash Jain (Senior Executive, Legal and Regulatory) and Mr. Areeb Abbas (Senior Executive, Business Development) from NCDEX (National Commodity and Derivative Exchange). Mr. Areeb Abbas gave insights to the students about derivative markets and its operations. Concepts including Forward, Options, Futures, OTC, and Swaps etc. were discussed upon during the session. Students were explained how investors can be a part of the derivative markets and enhance their financial position.
Mr. Avinash Jain being from a legal professional background explained what legal aspects an investor must consider before and after entering the commodity market. The legalities of transparent trading, redressal and grievance issues were the keynote points touched upon by the speakers. The students found the session extremely useful since it was organised before the start of Summer Internships igniting their inquisitiveness to gather more insights about the derivative and commodity markets.
