Marketing Club in association with Sparsh organized a selling activity - Selling for a Cause

JIMS Marketing Club in association with Sparsh organized a selling activity  for PGDM batch 2017-19 on 14th October 2017. Sparsh is an NGO which works for the betterment of underprivileged children with special-needs. They provide basic education and vocational training to the children so that they can be independent and productive. Activity was conducted during Diwali season and hand made products like candles, Terracotta Diyas and Diwali Thali were sourced from the NGO for sale. Students participated in this activity in group comprising of 5 members each. Participant teams were given the assortment sourced from Sparsh. Each team had to sell these items in a market of their own choice and earn maximum profit that they can.

 The objective of this activity was to make students test their selling skills and give exposure about customer behavior in real market scenario and raise funds for the NGO. PGDM students participated in this activity enthusiastically. All the teams were given equal number of items and of the same kind. The teams had two days to sell the items. The participant teams presented their reports and shared their experiences during the activity and the winning teams were awarded. The response was delightful, teams exhibited the use of different marketing theories and concepts that helped them complete this activity. The participating team also shared the obstacles they faced while selling the products and what strategies they adopted to overcome the obstacles. All the participant teams expressed that they enjoyed the activity and were happy to contribute for a good cause. Student efforts were recognized and appreciated by the NGO. A total of Rs.30,000 was collected by all the teams. The winners were awarded with certificates and a cash prizes of Rs.2500 (Ist Prize) and Rs 1500 (IInd prize).
