JIMS Rohini Organized Bhasha Samvad: Live Translation Challenge


Objective of the contest: To promote linguistic and cultural diversity, multilingualism, and language protection. To encourage the use, learning, and preservation of mother languages and to motivate students to learn and appreciate multiple languages for better communication and cultural understanding.

Learning Outcomes: Student Understands the importance of multilingualism and the role of mother languages in communication and identity. Students Recognized  the richness of different languages and dialects.

 

The Academic Club of JIMS Rohini, in collaboration with iThink, organized an insightful and engaging event, "Matribhasha Diwas: Bhasha Samvad - Live Translation Challenge," on February 21, 2025. The event was designed to celebrate the linguistic diversity of India by providing students with an opportunity to showcase their proficiency in regional languages. The challenge aimed to foster cultural inclusivity and appreciation for India's vast linguistic heritage.

Event Highlights:

1.Inauguration: The event commenced at 2:30 PM with a brief introduction to the event structure and rules. Participants, who had registered individually, were eager to display their linguistic skills.

2.Live Translation Challenge: Each participant was given 2 minutes to convert and summarize a given challenge into their respective regional language. This tested their linguistic adaptability and fluency in native tongues.

3.Engaging Participation: Students showcased their linguistic proficiency, making the event interactive and thought-provoking. The diversity of languages spoken reflected the multicultural environment of JIMS Rohini.

4.Prize Distribution: After the competition, participants who exhibited exceptional translation skills were recognized and awarded certificates for their outstanding performances.

Event Summary -

Matribhasha Diwas: Bhasha Samvad - Live Translation Challenge successfully brought together students to celebrate India’s linguistic diversity. Through the engaging translation challenge, participants demonstrated their ability to think critically and express themselves in their mother tongues. The event emphasized the importance of multilingualism and regional language preservation, aligning with the objectives of the Academic Club. The enthusiasm and engagement of students made this event a memorable experience, reinforcing the significance of Matribhasha Diwas in an academic setting.

Following students were distinguished with the positions :

1st Position : Khushi Sheoran , BCA 1st   Year, 2nd Shift.

2nd Position : Abhinav Raj Singh , BCA 3d   Year, 2nd Shift.

The event wrapped up with awarding the winners and acknowledging the participants as well a vote of thanks extended to the faculty and the team for their efforts..
