TEKQBE– The IT Club of JIMS organized a hand holding session on Cyber Security on 13th September 2024, starting from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. It was in Seminar Hall B-302 at JIMS Rohini Sector-5, New Delhi.
Objectives of the event:
- Increase Cybersecurity Awareness: Educate students about the importance of cybersecurity and the growing threats in the digital world.
- Identify Common Cyber Threats: Help students recognize common cyber threats like phishing, malware, and ransomware.
- Promote Safe Online Practices: Aware students about the best practices for protecting their personal and academic information online.
- Hands-On Experience with Cybersecurity Tools: Provide practical demonstrations of key cybersecurity tools and techniques to safeguard against potential threats.
Brief about the event:
The objective of this session was to provide students with valuable insights into securing their digital presence and understanding the latest trends in cybersecurity. The session was designed to offer practical knowledge of key cybersecurity principles, identify common cyber threats, understand legal and ethical aspects, and foster a security-first mindset. Resource person of the event was Mr Yash Garg, of BCA 2nd year. Yash is a certified Cyber Security practitioner.
Kavyansh opened the event with a warm welcome to the speaker, Mr. Yash Garg. After welcoming the speaker, Mr. Yash started the session with the introduction of himself. He briefly introduced about his journey into domain of cyber security and his motivation towards self-learning.
The session continued with an introduction to cybersecurity, the kinds of hackers present in this field, and the ways to get protected from any cyber-attack. Along with this theory, much practical knowledge was also provided and to make this session interesting. Quiz sessions were also there in which students actively participated and secured positions. Students played a major role in making this session interactive. The students raised doubts and questions, which were addressed by Mr. Yash.
The session ended with a vote of thanks to all the stakeholders. All the students felt the session to be quite interesting and knowledgeable and showed great interest while looking forward to more such events. The objective of the event was duly achieved, though the scope for improvement is always there.
