JIMS Rohini Organized JIMS Smart Hackathon 2024


Event Overview:

The JIMS Smart Hackathon was successfully held on 17th September 2024 by IIC for internal participants, with 21 teams participating. The problem statements were selected from the SIH (Smart India Hackathon) - 2024 Portal, focusing on real-world challenges that required innovative technology-based solutions.

Objective:

To provide a platform for students to develop innovative technology-based solutions for real-world problems by participating in a competitive hackathon.

Event Structure:

The event was structured into two rounds:

  • Round 1: Pitch the Problem Statement with Solution
    • Each team presented their chosen problem statement along with a well-thought-out solution. The focus was on understanding the problem and providing a feasible and innovative solution.
  • Round 2: Technical Aspect/Prototype and Improvisation Based on Round 1
    • Teams were required to develop a technical prototype of their proposed solution. The round also involved incorporating feedback from Round 1, showcasing the team's ability to iterate and improve their solutions.

Judging Criteria:

The judging panel evaluated the teams based on:

  • Clarity and relevance of the problem statement.
  • Innovativeness and feasibility of the solution.
  • Technical implementation of the prototype.
  • Team's ability to improvise based on feedback.

Winners:

First Prize: Team Coal Diggers (BCA Team)

ProjectTitle: An app and web-based software for productivity and safety management incoal

ProblemSolved: Theteam developed a comprehensive solution to improve the productivity and safetyof coal mines through real-time monitoring, data analysis, and risk assessment,enabling better management and decision-making.

Second Prize: Team Mine Craft (BCA Team)

Project Title: A web application designed specifically for Indian coal mines to quantify their carbon footprint and explore pathways to carbon neutrality.

Problem Solved: The project focused on helping coal mines become more environmentally sustainable by tracking carbon emissions and providing actionable insights to reduce their carbon footprint, aligning with India’s goals of achieving carbon neutrality.

Learning Outcome:

The hackathon successfully empowered participants to develop practical, real-world solutions by leveraging teamwork, innovation, and technical expertise, directly addressing key industry challenges.
