JIMS Rohini Organized Colloquium


Objective of the contest: The primary goal of a Colloquium is for students to generate effective critical thinking into primary issues in the given topic.

Learning Outcomes: Gaining broad, multi-faceted knowledge cutting across several disciplines outside the learner's normal academic subjects. Increasing learners' confidence, poise, and self- esteem.

The Academic Club organized the Colloquium competition on 20th March 2024. The event was comprised of Two Rounds. In the 1st Round, Group Discussion was conducted on the topic “Are Farm Subsidies Necessary ?”. Thirteen students participated in this round and spoke about the Swaminathan Report and other government initiatives for farmers. After a long discussion of around Thirty Minutes, the participants agreed that Farm Subsidies are necessary for weaker section of farmers

In The second Round, out of Thirteen Participants Eight participants were shortlisted for round 2.

The round 02 was Panel discussion on the topic “ Demand For MSP : Right or Wrong ?”.

Every students spoke about 10 minutes on the topic and after a long discussion it was concluded that Right for MSP should be given so that farmers exploitation should be stopped, if MSP guarantee is not provided by the government in that case, the private players will buy the crops with a huge bargain at a very minimum price, where the farmers faces huge losses and that leads to their exploitation. The judges of the event were Dr.Navneet Joshi, Professor, Department of Mgmt and Dr.Latika Kharb, Professor, Department of IT. The parameters of judgement were leadership qualities, logical reasoning, communication skills, latest knowledge on the subject and decision making skills.

Following students were distinguished with the positions :

  • 1st Position : Priyanshu Mehta, BCA 3rd Year, 2nd Shift.
  • 2nd Position : Jagrit Sharma, BA-Eco 2nd Year.
  • 3rd Position : Karman Arora, BCA 3rd Year, 2nd Shift.

The event wrapped up with awarding the winners and acknowledging the participants as well a vote of thanks to the faculty and the team.
