Introduction:
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Club of JIMS Rohini visited Talkatora Stadium scheduled from 5th-10th October,2023 organised by Guru Gobind Singh University, Delhi. This event was organised to celebrate the Silver
Jubilee Year of the university. Volunteers from our club visited Health Mela and got their checkups done and gained knowledge regarding their health.
Event Highlights:
- The Health Mela offered various medical services for free like eye tests, oral cancer screenings, blood tests and more. Our volunteers also got their tests done and took benefits of medical help provided.
- There was consultation available on Homeopathy, Ayurveda and Yoga where experts in their field tested and gave free consultations for better results and provided all the information needed.
- Health Mela also featured expert lectures, discussions, and debates on topics such as lifestyle-related diseases, mental health, elderly care, and blood and organ donation. Also there were stalls, promoting millets and other healthy lifestyle options which volunteers got inspired from and gained knowledge regarding their health.
- Training for sessions which included life-saving techniques like BLS, CPR, and first aid was held and our volunteers also participated in that and those who completed the training also got certifications.
- The event has Fair which consisted of daily programs which included
plays, music, dances, quizzes, debates, and activites for children to engage the children which was also completely free.
Conclusion:
Volunteering at Health Mela organised by Guru Gobind Singh University proved to be a highly successful endeavour as volunteers got knowledge of various health issues and it also spread awareness regarding health
concerns. It was a informative event which consisted of many sub programs which were highly successfully and such initiatives play a pivotal role in nurturing a thriving and well-informed community, it also changes the mindset of people and make them pay attention towards their health.
