The Economics department of JIMS Rohini-sector 5 conducted its first ever Youth Parliament exclusively for BA Economics Honours students. This Youth Parliament was a one-day committee simulation of Lok Sabha on the theme: Union Budget and Policy Implementation.
Prior to the event, students sent in their registrations and preferences for the different ministers they would like to represent. Basis their preference, the portfolio allotment took place.
All the participants were given a background guide 10 days prior to the event along with their portfolio allotment via mail. A week before the event a briefing about the flow of the committee sessions was taken for the participants to help them prepare and research for their respective portfolios. In the upcoming week all the participants were individually trained and guided as per their roles. The details of the same is given below:

On 28th February 2024, the event commenced with the opening ceremony and the convenor Ms. Tanshi Ghai declared the conference Open.
There were two committees present, Lok Sabha and the Hindustan Press.
The executive board was seated on the stage, comprising of Speaker, Political Advisor and Deputy speaker represented by Jagrit Sharma, Raksha Jain and Sarthak Malhotra respectively.
All the delegates were seated in front with the ruling party on the right and opposition on the left of the EB.
The Flow of the session was as follows-
- The parliament began with Committee session 1: The opening ceremony was followed by this session that included the opening statements of all the delegates present in the Lok Sabha.
- Committee session 2: In the second session, sub-agendas were discussed and the agenda of Defense was finalized by a majority vote in the Lok Sabha. A discussion of the agenda took place and the delegates gave their speeches on the same. This session also included the star questions. No cross-questioning could be done. During both the sessions, delegates were asking questions via chits which were also being marked by the executive board.
- Committee session 2: In the second session, sub-agendas were discussed and the agenda of Defense was finalized by a majority vote in the Lok Sabha. During both the sessions, delegates were asking questions via chits which were also being marked by the executive board.
After the completion of the committee sessions, the press committee held a press conference wherein all the journalists put up their questions to the delegates and finally submitted their articles.
During this time the EB prepared the results of the Lok Sabha committee sessions.
The last committee session was then followed by the award ceremony and the closing ceremony.
