A dry port visit was organised to *Delhi International Cargo Terminal ,Sonepat on 4th August 2022 for the batch PGDM-IB (2021-23)
The DICT inland container depot and multi user Logistics Park is strategically located at Sonepat, off the NH-1, the arterial cargo route to Delhi. It is custom designed to bring efficiency and cost effectiveness to all EXIM and domestic cargoes in the NCR region.
With Custom Authorities within premises, and complete online access it provides a unique single window solution for customers.
The Visit started with a presentation by their senior manager who briefed the working procedure of the port, logistics chain, infrastructure, services and types of transportation system they use to run their day to day services. In addition to that students took a tour around the port and saw how containers are loaded and transported to their designated places.
They learnt the core work is to provide place to containers of shipping lines, verify them on certain parameters, meet custom formalities and then transport to respective designation.
It was a learning experience for all the students since they are from International Business background.
