PGDM Department organized an alumni session on “Sales & distribution strategies” on 31st Mar 2022 by Ms. Deepti Kumar, Area Sales Manager in Philips and JIMS alumni of PGDM batch (2017-19) She taught a concept of distribution and briefly described the meaning of distribution and the three different channels of distribution. She shared real life examples of connecting it with the company she is currently working with. She also explained different type of conflicts faced by the company in the market with wholesaler, retailer, agents etc and also shared the interaction style with different department on a daily basis. She also gave some tips on how to prepare for an interview.
Undoubtedly it was an interesting session as she shared her job experience with the students and motivated them to work hard. She also discussed about the work culture followed by the different companies. She focused on building a strong network if they are having a long term vision in working in sales profile. She cleared the mindset of the students by solving their regarding summer internship and emphasized on upgrading their skill sets. She also caution and cleared the perception of many students who gets easily attracted by the perks, incentives offered by the company if they choose sales as their job profile. She also focused on the fact to check the job description of the company before applying for that so that it also matches to your skill set. The session was ended after resolving all the queries of the students regarding the work culture, salary offered, job roles and responsibilities.
