The event was organized by TEKQBE – The IT Club of JIMS on 22nd June 2022, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It was organized in offline mode in Auditorium (A Building) by JIMS, Rohini, New Delhi.
Objective:
- Cyber Awareness: Introducing students to the course of Cybersecurity, giving them awareness in protecting personal and a company’s data. While maintaining an online privacy and explaining the reason for requirement of more IT jobs in the sector.
- Cybersecurity Essentials: It covered up the foundational knowledge and essential skills required for all the cybersecurity domains also including the techniques of defence and mitigation used in protecting businesses.
Brief about the lecture:
It was jointly supported by JIMS Rohini and SPICES scheme of AICTE. The objective of this workshop was to make all the new commers in this sector well aware about the importance, use and need of cybersecurity. A quiz was also held up initially to check the already acquired knowledge of the students on the topic for which students also got a certificate at the end. The event was held in offline mode and Covid protocols were duly followed.
On the day of event, the turnout was good and more than 102 students turned up. The event was opened by Ms. Aakanksha Chopra, Dr. Praveen Gupta and Mr. Devesh Lowe (faculty coordinators of IT Club) and handed over to student coordinators after explaining the rules of the event for a smooth conduct of it. A quiz was attempted on the individual cell phones of students itself, the resource person (Mr. Kartik Bhardwaj) very well instructed the students for how to attempt the quiz step by step and very patiently catered to the queries of all the students. In the end, auto-generated certificates were downloaded by students for all who gave an attempt to the quiz and also course lectures related to the same were accessible the students.
The event ended with vote of thank. All the students felt the event to be quite interesting, everyone showed great interest and are looking forward to more such events.
Objective:
The objective of the event was to understand concepts of cyber awareness and cybersecurity essentials. Both them modules Covered were well explained as-
Cyber Aware: - The Introduction to Cybersecurity course explores cyber trends, threats and staying safe in cyberspace, and protecting personal and company data, Learn how to protect your personal data and privacy online and in social media, and why more and more IT jobs require cybersecurity awareness and understanding.
Cybersecurity Essentials: - Covers foundational knowledge and essential skills for all cybersecurity domains including information security, systems security, network security, ethics and laws, and defence and mitigation techniques used in protecting businesses.
Learning Outcomes:
The students were able to understand the need and use of cybersecurity while we are such active Internet users.
