Teaching Methodology
JIMS emphasizes on strong technical education supported by intense Lab practices to foster innovations and human excellence amongst the students. The curriculum provides significant amount of coverage through the various core and elective subjects like Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing Cyber Security, Mobile Computing etc.
Numerous learning and teaching techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skill to the students. These include Lectures, assignments, simulation tools, group discussions, project work, mock tests, PI etc. Further enrichment to skill is provided through the guest lectures, workshops, quizzes, and many sessions on personality development, soft skills, Intellectual Property Rights, Human Values etc.
Faculty at JIMS is always standing along with students by guiding them for consultancy, research and live projects.
The pedagogy lays emphasis on increasing the technical as well as human skills through clear conceptual understanding of core subjects, with complete exposure to industrial practices. The approach includes the following steps:
Classroom Learning: The latest theoretical inputs are provided by the faculty of the Institute. Emphasis is on to develop analytical skills amongst students.
Presentation & extempore: Students explore their presentation skills under sessions conducted for non-university subjects.
Assignment: Students are motivated to self -study.
Research Paper: Under non-university subjects, Students are encouraged to discuss their research ideas and experiences to propose an innovative solution to social or environmental issue.
Project Report: As an integral part of the curriculum, students are required to work on one project in every semester and a major project. This is an excellent opportunity for students to have close interaction with the industry-experts who often give them live projects to work on.On completion of their projects, the students are required to make presentation of their report.
IPR, Human Values & Ethics: In today’s time research is being transformed to service. With the increasing focus of government on innovation and research there is a strong need to learn about Intellectual Property Rights. This is how students safeguard their invention/innovation. Knowledge about IPR help students to project their invention or innovation. This also provides funding opportunity to students. Values are important to build-up a good relationships. Practicing human values can eliminate problems like dishonesty, violence, and jealousy, etc. Students are observed for their behaviour and are guided through conduct shown by their mentors.
Environment Education: Now a days land, water and air pollution is tracked through robots. High-performance computing devices are used to reduce the greenhouse gases, for generating cleaner and cheaper wind energy. Drone are taking real time data to analyse the factor which has major effect on the forest. These are the application of computing power for environment conservation. Students are promoted to take up such topics for their minor projects.
Entrepreneurship Mind-set: An entrepreneurial mind-set empowers students to approach challenges as opportunities which help them to define problems, learn from the environment, and recapitulate in response to real-world stimulus.
