JIMS in collaboration with CSI, Delhi Chapter hosted Panel Discussion on “Effectiveness of Cyber Laws in India” on 6th February 2020. The event was supported by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
Objective of the panel discussion was to provide an insight of cyber laws, impact of technology on the implementation of cyber laws and the extent to which cyber laws can be effective in country. Key focus areas of discussion this year were as follows:
- Cyber Laws and Cyber Crime within India
- Impact factors for the various Cyber Crimes using the mobile devices
Precautions to be taken to avoid the problems

Panel members had a knowledgeable and fruitful discussion on where, how and to whom to report the cyber-crime, importance of quickly reporting a crime, awareness amongst youth about types of cyber frauds, and different methods to be vigilant in this vulnerable social media environment. Session also focussed on the technical aspect of implementation of cyber laws. Panel members answered to questions posed by the audiences on cyber security standards. Since the audience mostly comprised of college students, discussion served as a healthy knowledge sharing platform where students gained information about government policies, cyber laws in India and rights of individual about cyber content sharing.
Panel discussion was followed by Inter College Techno-Management Quiz hosted by renowned quiz-master Mr Ajay Poonia. Quiz received a participation of Total 47 teams (141 students) from 21 colleges, and after a 3 hours of marathon quizzing, top three teams were awarded with 1st 2nd and 3rd prize of Rs 15000, Rs 12000 and Rs 9000 respectively. This event witnessed a large group of quiz enthusiasts who increased their knowledge while challenging others intellect.
