Department of IT, JIMS-Rohini conducted AICTE sponsored 2 weeks Faculty Development Programme on "Big Data Tools, Neural Networks And Data Analytics Tools" from 9th December to 21st December 2019. The major objective of this FDP was to impart in depth and up-to-date knowledge of the emerging trends in the field of Big Data and Data Analytics. The FDP started with inaugural session on 9th Dec in the presence of Dr. Pooja Jain (Director-JIMS), Dr. Praveen Arora (Dean-IP), Dr. Latika Kharb (Professor-Convenor), Ms. Yogita Bansal (Co-Convenor) and Ms. Bhawna Galhotra (Co-Convenor) and speaker of the day Dr. Nisha Arora along with various participants. The inaugural session started with Lamp Lightening and welcome address given by Dr. Maya Ingle, chief guest. Dr. Maya Ingle is a renowned academician with Ph.D in Computer Science from Devi Ahilya University, Indore (M.P.),she did M.Tech in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. She also did her Post Graduate Diploma in Automatic Computation from University of Roorkee.
In FDP, many faculty members participated from various departments of AICTE approved Colleges/ Institutes. Eminent personalities specializing in areas “Big Data Tools, Neural Networks And Data Analytics” were present in the event as resource persons namely:
1.Dr. Happy Mittal is an Applied Scientist in the Machine Learning team at Amazon India. He did his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Parag Singla, at Dept. of Computer Science, IIT Delhi.
2.Ms. CharuVerma, working as Senior Principal Scientist, Head, Business Development Division (BDD) and Editor, Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge (IJTK) in CSIR-NISCAIR, New Delhi.
3.Prof Ajay K.S. Singholi, Professor and Dean (Academics), Dept. of Mechanical & Automation Engineering, G. B. Pant Government Engineering College,(G.G.S. Indraprastha University).

As the eminent speakers were of very high repute, the participants felt motivated and it helped them to inculcate the practice of acquiring knowledge through hands on practices. The broad topics of coverage are: Big Data & R Programming, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Data Science, Data Analytics and so on. It was a rewarding and enriching experience for the organizers and participants as well. All participants felt that they learnt a lot about data. The feedback on the lectures presented in FDP was very positive, with the participants agreeing that the knowledge presented right level of challenges and had the appropriate level of information. Many participants talked about how they could use these lectures in their teaching and learning environment.
