Aimed at enhancing technical skills of the faculty members, a five day Faculty Development Programme was organized by JIMS Rohini on “Latest Trends of Research in Machine Learning, Data analytics and Image Processing”, from 10th Nov to 14th Dec 2018, specially designed for faculty members of IT department. FDP served as a platform to train and educate the research scholars, faculty, and people from industry to interact on latest trends of research in machine learning, Data Analytics and Image Processing.
It focused on:
•Machine Learning tools Like R
•Data Analytics with Twitter
•Hands-on experience on the tools used for Sentiment Analysis
1st Day of FDP
The first day of FDP program started with the inaugural session, in which Dr.Manjot Kaur Bhatia, Professor(IT), JIMS addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of Machine learning and Data Analytics. Resource person for first day FDP was Dr. Ruchika Malhotra, Associate Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Information Technology at ,Delhi Technological University, Delhi. Dr. Ruchika shared her knowledge on various Machine learning algorithms. She explained decision trees, its types and its application on the various data sets to enhance research work.
2nd Day of FDP
The Second day of FDP was conducted by Mr Rishabh Kaushal , Assistant Professor, IGDTUW on the topic "Twitter Sentiment Analysis". Mr. Rishabh discussed about big data and data analytics. He gave examples of sentiment analysis using twitter data. Faculty practiced the sentiment analysis during the session through hands-on exercises.
3rd Day of FDP
The Third Day of FDP was conducted by Dr Parmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, JIIT Noida on the topic "Machine Learning Tools". It started with the introduction on Machine Learning tools: Hadoop and Hive. Later faculty did practical on Hadoop.
4th and 5th Day of FDP
The fourth and fifth day of FDP were conducted by Dr. Satish Chand, Professor, NSIT on the topic "Image Processing Using Matlab”. Dr. Satish told about applications of image processing, Information security and image processing using Matlab. The FDP closed with the valedictory session in which, Dr. Praveen Arora, HOD-IPU Affiliated Programs and Dr. Manjot Kaur Bhatia, convener of the FDP, distributed the certificates to the participants.
