“ORIENTATION DAY” for PGDM – IB, 2014-2016 on 7th July, 2014

Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Sector 5, Rohini hosted the Orientation Programme for PGDM (International Business) with fervor and enthusiasm on 7th July, 2014. The event was organized by the Department of IB (Dean-Prof Ashok Bhagat) and was hosted by the seniors of PGDM-IB Batch.
Dr. J.K. Goyal, Director, JIMS delivered the Welcome speech and enlightened the audiences with his inspirational quotes and motivational words. He conveyed and counseled students about the advent of globalization, liberalization and privatization where the share of Multinationals is increasing. Some of the key highlights made by him were:
- Being ambitious and innovative should be that aim in today’s fast changing competitive world.
- Build Leader qualities – Ability to speak confidently, revive a positive attitude.
- Learn, unlearn and re-learn
While welcoming the students at the Orientation programme , Dr. J.K Goyal drew attention of the audience towards the fact that the students have entered the JIMS Family and were a part of it now. Specialised fields like International Business have immense scope and potential and have to be treated with utmost care and attention.
The Key Note Address was delivered by Guest of Honor Mr. T.S. Ahluwalia, Member-Managing Committee, Federation of Indian Export, Organizations, Ministry of Commerce and Govt. of India. He further highlighted “Creativity, Ethics and Career in International Business”. With his vast professional experience, he delivered and enthralled the students about the practical aspects of learning. He opined that learning is a continuous process and promoted the aspect of entrepreneurship.
Director (I.T), Prof V.B Aggarwal also shared his thoughts and experiences with the audiences. The key aspect of learning at JIMS were highlighted. Working hard and achieving the goal was stressed. He stressed on practicing ethics and sincerity while using IT tools.
Dean (IB) Dr. Ashok Bhagat presented the Vote of Thanks & shared his experiences with the Vth Batch at JIMS. Further he highlighted, as students have entered professional programs they have to acquire certain skills and traits which would enable them to compete with the fast pace competitive world.
Further he quoted that JIMS has designed its courses keeping in mind the advent of change and innovation with the global standards. It provides updated knowledge to keep students updated with the current market trends. He further redefined the meaning of “Corporate” World which works on the concept of hard work, innovation, transition and challenges. Since these programmes were sector specific , the scope and dimensions were vast and diversified.
Lastly, Dr Ashok Bhagat Dean PGDM (IB) gave the Vote of Thanks wherein he shared his experiences and highlighted the importance of the programme and wished students a successful career and stay at JIMS. Overall the programme was a perfect start for the students and parents were their high hopes and aspirations received a great new beginning.
