The event was organized by TEKQBE – The IT Club of JIMS on 20th March 2024, starting from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It was organized in offline mode in Room – B301 at JIMS Rohini Sector-5, New Delhi.
Objective:
- Skill Development: The main objective of organizing the event was to provide students with an opportunity to enhance their web designing skills (only frontend), from basic to advanced levels.
- Practical Experience: Offered hands-on experience in designing the front-end of a website, helping students apply theoretical knowledge to real-world projects
- Competition: Incorporated a competitive element into the event to inspire students to strive for excellence and gain recognition for their proficiency in web design.
Brief about the event:
It was supported by JIMS Rohini Sector 5. The objective of this event was to make all the students of all programs well aware of their design skills and knowledge about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in designing the front end of a website.
The event was to make an exact clone of a provided webpage, including all defined functionalities (related to the front end). This event prohibited the usage of mobile phones and Internet services. The participation in this event was in a team of a maximum of two members.
The coding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript was to be done in either Notepad or Notepad++ only and the participants had to justify the code they had written to the evaluators. The participating teams were given 2 hours to design the front end of the website provided. The assessment of participating teams' webpages was conducted by evaluating the alignment of their user interfaces and functionalities with the specifications outlined in the provided webpage.
On the day of the event, the turnout was of more than 16 teams. The event was opened by Mr. Devesh Lowe and Ms. Shivani Vats (faculty coordinator of the IT Club) and was further handed over to student coordinators after explaining the rules of the event for smooth conduct of it.
The event was started on March 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and all teams were given 2 hours and concluded at 4:00 p.m. in B-301 (B Building).
The event ended with a vote of thanks to all the stakeholders. All the students felt the event to be quite competitive and knowledgeable and showed great interest while looking forward to more such events. The objective of the event was duly achieved, though the scope for improvement is always there. The event was successfully conducted by the entire team of TekQbe special regards to the faculty and student coordinators, Mr. Devesh Lowe and Ms. Shivani Vats(Karman Arora, Aniket Singh, Aditya Pandey, Vaibhavi Sharma, Raghav Garg, and Alok Kumar Jha) for coordinating the event that nicely and avoiding the hassle by maintaining the required discipline. The student coordinators diligently addressed all queries from participants and ensured compliance with the rule prohibiting the use of mobile phones for assistance during the event.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participation in the event significantly heightened students' proficiency in frontend design, deepening their understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding. Furthermore, it equipped them with the ability to express their code and design concepts effectively to evaluators.
- It fostered healthy competition among participants, irrespective of their academic seniority, encouraging an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
- It also provided participants with valuable insights into their strengths and areas for improvement, aiding in their self-assessment and ongoing skill development.
