Incubation Program

Program Objectives:

Following are the main objectives of the StartUp Incubation Program

• To provide understanding on Entrepreneurship
• To encourage conversion of creative ideas into a sustainable business opportunity
• To assist in developing a profitable business model plan
• To improve soft skills, negotiation skills, selling and team skills
• To assist in the understanding of market environment
• To give exposure on various options and sources of Startup Financing, their benefits and limitations
• To guide on investor’s pitch deck
• To help create a winning team
• To support in preparing GTM (Go-to-Market) strategy

Pedagogy:

The programme has been divided into (a) Classroom Training (b) Market Study (c) Field Project

Mentorship:

Throughout the program, every participant would be attached to a mentor, who would provide guidance throughout the duration of the program. Besides, experts from different functional fields shall regularly interact and resolve queries of the participants related to product development, financing, marketing, legal issues, arranging resources and availing associated services

Financial Assistance / Funding:

Participants, depending upon the practicality of their business idea, its growth prospects and project progress, may be awarded funding of upto Rs.50000/- on completion of six months of the program

Scope of earning additional Credits:

Those pursuing Startup Incubation program may also earn credits as per the policy of respective course programs

Certification:

Students on successful completion of the program shall be awarded ‘Certificate of Participation’, subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria

With the growing number of start-ups in India there has always been a need for an Incubation Program where budding entrepreneurs could build their ventures according to the best industry practices, keeping in check the pace of development. Taking this thought forward we intend to impart excellence in business methodologies in order to develop sound start-up ventures through our Incubation Program.

Our program not only focusses on funding for the start-up but the overall idea is to bring the start-up to a stage where it is ready for scalability through mentoring, networking and possible collaborations. As per our past experience, the program also quadruples the funding opportunities for the start-ups.

What Do We Look For?

We believe that having a brilliant and unique idea is 1% and executing the idea is 99%. Our goal is to work with those kind of start-ups or individuals who have an idea along with the capability of turning that idea into something important. For us the team is more important than the idea. We look forward to working with teams who have the capability to self-execute their projects initially and have a long term vision for their start-ups.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE INCUBATION PROGRAMME

For PGDM / MCA / BBA / BCA students of JIMS

• The programme is to train, assist and mentor students to convert their ideas into a business venture
• In the initial stage, training shall be provided by the experts on various aspects of business. Later guidance & support would be provided to develop creative ideas into possible commercially viable product
• A seed money of Rs.50000/- shall be provided to the ten best selected projects. The amount shall be later enhanced depending upon the progress and market conditions
• Once idea is ready to be launched as a commercial product, it would be registered as a company. JIC equity holding in incubated start-up company will be 7%
• Patent rights will be with the company
• The students would be required to attend training sessions mostly on weekends, so that normal class schedule is not affected
