6th Annual InfoTech Symposium -TechnoWhiz 2021



On 6th march 2021 Jagan Institute of Management Studies Rohini organised 6th Annual InfoTech Symposium “TechnoWhiz 2021” with the theme “Exploring Informatics and Computational Tools for Social Media Analytics “. This event was supported by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) and Computer Society of India (CSI), Delhi Chapter. 

In this edition of TechnoWhiz, expert panel talked about Informatics and Computational Tools for Social Media Analytics. Our panel-members represented Academia, Corporate and Policy Makers who work with social media analytics and have a sound knowledge of computational tools used for mining data. The symposium turned out to be most interactive as the speakers did comparative analysis using live data of social media users. This symposium which opened new doors of social media analytics for young minds, was attended by 300 IT students. 


The session started with the ice breaking by the convener of symposium Ms. Aakanksha Chopra, Assistant Professor at JIMS. She introduced about the symposium and its objective and about JIMS Rohini. Dr. Praveen Arora, Dean- IPU affiliated programmes at JIMS, officially welcomed the gathering. Dr Pooja Jain, Director of JIMS, also addressed the virtual gathering and set the tone for the symposium.

Dr. B.K Murthy( CHIEF GUEST- TECHNOWHIZ 2021)

Senior Director (Scientist G) and Group Coordinator (R&D in IT and NKN) in the Ministry of Electronics  and IT (MeitY), Government of India gave inaugural address to the gathering. 

He introduced emerging technology and infrastructure like PARAM Siddi AI super computer, Unified platform for farmer, National programme of AI enable us use AI on different sectors and how these technologies have changed the life of a common man.  He informed students about future skill learn platform to learn about different skills, he further gave msighs on how government has taken care of Aadhar Card security issues and making sure that data will not be shared with anyone. He emphasized upon the efforts taken by government towards the last mile connectivity through Digital India mission.


Mr. Amandeep Singh, Sr. Program Manager, NCR Corporation. talked about Data and importance of Data, Big Data, Social Media Analytics, Machine Learning techniques and Data Science.  He highlighted the fact that India and China have high ratio of users on social media platforms, and covid increased the time engagement of people on social media. He explained social path of social decision table and covered velocity, volume, variety, veracity, source of Data. He talked about prescriptive, descriptive, analytics, sentimental analysis, trend mining, and concept mining; explained the concept of pipeline management with system architecture of sentimental analysis from twitter.  He introduced students about deep learning concepts like Neural Network, Word2Vec Neural Network, explained some Natural Language Processing events and given some examples of human version. At the end he briefed students about different roles of data scientist included ML Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Engineer and Research Scientist

Mr. Mandhir Dua, Head of Competitive Analysis at Expedia gave behind the scene tour about Social Media Analytics. He explained the example of Mercedes Benz, Dove, Nike and Oreo advertising commercials and talked about social media impact on product development strategy.  Mr. Dua also highlighted some of instances of failure advertising like amazon prime day, Delta Airline and conducted an online quiz with students on menti.com platform. He explained about collecting Data with cleaning, understanding the data and A/B Testing formats. He categorised social media content into three sub parts that is publish, analyse, listen and talk about some social media analyse tools like zohosocial, sendible. He ended the session with explaining 3-2-1 concept of 3 ideas, 2 quotes and 1 question.

Mr. Siddhant Satsangi, Growth Hacker at Times Internet and Start-up Mentor, discussed further about social media behaviour of generation. He highlighted that YouTube is the biggest social media platform in India, and explained the importance of social media analytics. He highlighted few steps to follow for doing Social Media Analytics i.e., understanding the audience, identify the right trend, create better content, benchmark against your competitors, take better strategic decision, measure return on investment and grow the business. He explained the importance of hashtags, captions and what algorithm different platform follows and understanding right trend to follow. Mr Satsangi explained different free analytics platform and explain how to use them. 


Prof. Sanjive Saxena, Associate Professor, JIMS moderated Technical session II. He summarized the entire technical session and took Q & A session of students with speakers.
