Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini Delhi, organized a one-day National Seminar on the topic "Environmentally Sustainable Development: A Bag of Green Profits" on 6th February,2010, in its premises.

The Seminar was inaugurated by Prof. P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technological University. In its keynote speech, Prof. Sharma laid emphasis on action rather than words. He cited the example of Delhi Technological University which is meeting its entire water requirements in house through recycling rainwater harvesting and other similar innovations. The Guest of Honour on the event was Mr. Pradeep Kumar, CEO, India Infrastructure Finance Co. Ltd. In response to call for papers, JIMS received more than 50 papers, out of which 25 papers were selected for publication. The seminar volume was released by the Chief Guest in the inaugural session. The event was attended by a galaxy of academicians, industry representatives and students from various management institutes.

The inaugural session was followed by a lively and heated panel discussion which was moderated by Dr. J. K. Goyal, Director, JIMS. Mr. Barun Mitra-Director, Liberty Institute, reminded the audience the hardships faced by our predecessors due to famines, disease, malnutrition etc. He said growth was the only guarantee for sustainable development. Prof. Rakesh Mehrotra of Delhi Technological University made in-depth analysis of the action plan after Copenhagen. Prof. (Dr.) Sham Bhela elaborated on the innovative techniques being adopted in agriculture which could ensure sustained development. In the afternoon session four parallel tracks took place on the following themes:

a. Critical Issues in Sustainable Development.
b. Green Innovations
c. Energy Efficiency and Emission Aspects
d. Sustainable Marketing Strategies.

One Day Seminar ended with the valedictory session.
