CAREER GUIDANCE SESSION
At: Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Sector-5, Rohini
To broaden the horizon of students for their career choices and aspirations a motivating and insightful Career Guidance Session and Alumni Interaction was organized for the students of PGDM- Batch 2012-14 on Saturday, 20th July, 2013. Dr. J.K Goyal, Director welcomed the entire Alumni panelist. Further Mr. Cherian George, Professor gave an introduction of the program and gave the session structure.
The key speakers for the session were
- Ms. Harneet Kaur, Manager, Oriental Bank of Commerce (Batch 2008-10)
- Mr. Aditya Bansal, Marketing Manager, Zee Networks (Batch 2005-07)
- Ms. Archana Phogat, HR Head Somani Ceramics (Batch 2003-2005)
- Mr. Atul Jain, Business Head, Reliance Communication (Batch 1998-2000)
- Mr. Kumud Ranjan, Regional Head, Snap Deal (Batch 2004-06)
 
Our key speakers shared their industry relevant experiences with the students throwing a guiding light on the career prospects and opportunities present in their sectors. Industries like Telecom, Media, Banking, and E-Commerce were discussed at length. Students were guided and mentored on maintaining the habit of Questioning, Cross Culture relations and importance of having a strong foundation. Broadening horizons in terms of being Industry specific and keeping your basics correct was stressed upon. Also, scanning the industry before entering was mentioned by the speakers. Adaptability in any field can lead to massive career growth was jointly mentioned by the panel members. The program was followed by tea and refreshments and provided a platform for students to network and interact.
The vote of thanks was given by Ms. Ruchi, PGDM IB; Mementoes were presented to the entire panelist as a token of remembrance from JIMS.
Over all, the session was motivating and educative for the students and well appreciated by all participants.
