FDP on "Business Simulation as Teaching Tool"

Faculty Development Programme was held on Friday, 23rdMay, 2014 on the topic ‘Business Simulation as a Teaching Tool’. It was conducted by Biziga, an entrepreneurial venture promoted by IIM alumnus and having among its advisors, senior professors from premier institutes and corporate executives.  The trainers for the session were Mr.Rahul Jalan and Mr.Ashish Kumar, who have together conducted training sessions for over 6000 people including students from IIMS, XLRI, etc. as well as executives in organizations such as Airtel, Reliance, Mahindra, etc.

The Business Simulation FDP was conducted in a workshop mode in which faculty were divided into groups and each group functioned as an independent company operating in a competitive IT industry. There were mainly three rounds of simulation exercise, in which each group had to estimate the market potential, assess the future scenario and accordingly plan and executive its strategy on marketing, sales, finance, HR and production for each round. The comparative scores were discussed for each group after completion of every round.

The FDP was inaugurated by Dr.J.K.Goyal, Director JIMS, Rohini, Delhi who also distributed the certificates to the participating faculty members at the end of the session. The programme was coordinated by Dr.Sumesh Raizada, Dean (RM programme), JIMS, Rohini.

Overall it was a great learning exercise in which various management concepts were explained and understood in a highly interactive and interesting manner.
