Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Sector 5, Rohini, New Delhi organized “TUESDAY TALK SERIES – XXIIth” on Tuesday, 23rd July, 2013 at its campus. The continuous faculty interaction programme was an initiative by the faculty members to present their research papers or any other similar activity with JIMS fraternity. The moderator for the session was Dr. Ritu Bajaj, Professor and the resource person for the presentation was Dr. Sumesh Raizada- Dean Retail Management, JIMS.
The JIMS faculty and other staff members from various departments attended the presentation.
Dr. Sumesh presented the paper on “Professionalism and Administration – With reference to Academic institutions” which he had presented at the Indian Institute of Public Administration. The presentation highlighted the aspect of professionalism and administration, where he defined both. The categories of professionals are those who have a certain area of expertise and knowledge of the preferred subject. On the other hand professionalism is an attitude that leads to a certain ethical code of conduct.
Further, he explained both the aspects with the help of insightful videos and presentation from popular movies like 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai which depicted the aspect of a true administrator and professional. The idea behind showcasing the videos was to enlighten and throw a guiding light on the aspect of being a true professional. Also, he further highlighted the aspect of administrator and opined that both professionals and administrators are interlinked with each other in terms of behavioral aspects.
He also mentioned the DOs and DONTs of professionals and their qualities. He also gave a self analysis report on mentioned topic.
Lastly, Dr Ritu Bajaj moved a vote of thanks for an insightful session that took place.
Over all, the session interactive and a learning experience for the JIMS Family.
